Plump, gooey, sweet dates - a product of Saudi Arabia (yes, there is more than oil).
It is common in the Arab world to serve Arabic coffee with dates upon arriving at your host's house.
We went to the Deriya Park on the outskirts of Riyadh on Friday. It was an excellent day. We spent 10 hours there cooking, hiking, drinking coffee, etc.
After several weeks working in Saudi Arabia, it was a distinct pleasure to enjoy a local, Lebanese beer, Almaza when in Beirut.
This beautiful, new mosque in downtown Beirut complements the other new development areas and cathedrals and churches there.
