I feel as tired as this Syrian dog today after a hectic work week... (We work Saturdays to Wednesdays).
This fermented yogurt-like broth is heated and poured liberally over the mansaf.

All restaurants and many other public locations in Saudi Arabia are segregated by sex. Single men (not single women) go into the Singles' Section. Women and families (men with women; children with women too) go into adjacent Family Sections.
I feel this is one reason there are no "No Smoking" sections in Saudi Arabia -- very hard to organize -- would they have to create four sections!
I have seen this dish at manyLebanese/Syrian restaurants. Fragrant rice with mutton. Delicious.
Was on of the many dishes at Maher's father-in-law's dinner party.
Attending a wonderful dinner party on Friday as invited by Maher Kotob. On the outskirts of Riyadh in a closed off private rental area. Grass. Lots of expats from Lebanon and Syria. Great food!
Chicken. Fries. Picked veges. Garlic-flavored mayo. Fresh-squeezed orange+lemon juice.
It is very hard to get a good photo of Riyadh's ubiquitous feral garbage cats resting on their territorial bins -- they sense something is up and run away like this kitty did.
Not sure how in iPhone messed up this photo. In any event, in the central "frame" one can see a feral garbage cat resting on its bin -- its territory.
Interesting to me that there are so many feral cats and no stray dogs.
This hot dessert is sweet, is sprinkled with nuts and has a layer of delicious, chewy cheese underneath.
I have noticed such second-hand clothes recycling programs in Taiwan. Appears some Muslim organizations do the same. Wonder why this sort of effort is not seen in, for example, North America?
Since Riyadh has no mandatory recycling program, I am glad to see that the local mosque urges recycling.
I assume the Dr. Cafe chain of cafes bans Bluetooth so men and women don't communicate between the Single Men and Family / Single Women sections.
Why in the world would the Dr. Cafe coffee shop chain in Saudi Arabia prohibit photography? High speed Wi Fi is available, but no photography?
Majed provides us with excellent dates and fresh, Arab-brewed coffee almost everyday. Quite a cultural treat!
Taken at the Taiwan Broadband Show in Taipei. There is increasing interest globally in the world's Islamic marketplaces and such shows increasingly cater to religious needs.
